GUITAR AND INTERVIEW ISLANDS, THE TWO INTERESTING FACET OF ANDAMAN

Have you ever in your lifetime has wondered about any name of the place? Well, I was! Through this blog, I wish to share some tourism aspects of two islands that are located in the Andaman and Nicobar islands. We know that Andaman and Nicobar islands are really an interesting tourist destination to explore. A wide variety of attractions, which are even unique are present in the islands to enthrall tourists. Possessing good numbers of pristine beaches like Radhanagar, Elephant beach, etc, Andaman Islands are proving that the tourism there is an unforgettable experience in your life. Suffocating under the four walls of corporate lives in Bangalore, my mind was actually flying over the calm sun-kissed islands. For people like me living in these busy metropolitan city, needs refreshment. If these islands were present in our city, then it would have benefited the people to a greater extent. Since my marriage is fixed, I decided that we would go for a honeymoon in Andaman and would obviously visit Guitar and Interview islands. There are more honeymoon options in Andaman including accommodation and food. To my curiosity, I even checked the Andaman Honeymoon Packages from Bangalore. Just like the uniqueness, it provides for travelers, even the names of some islands here are interesting. The guitar and Interview islands are the two islands which sound interesting to the travelers. I was curious when I first encountered these names in the tourist attractions of Andaman and Nicobar islands. But unfortunately, the names of both the islands were not given in the itinerary. Since the places have fewer tourism facilities, they are not included in any packages but I was really interested to behold the serenity. After incurring some information about the island, what fascinated me were not the names but the unique tour aspect or facet of nature, the places provide. What I want in my honeymoon was some moments in solace which can be given by these islands.

GUITAR ISLANDS- where Serenity Touches

Towards the eastern coast of North and Middle Andaman’s, there lies an island which has no settlements and stays calm. Long Island is a popular tourist destination and the guitar islands are closer to it. The moment we hear the name as Guitar Island, what comes first into our minds is that the island is associated with a musical performance or something. Obviously, here a musician can have best moments be it a lyricist, musician, or a singer the solitude will invoke artistic talents. But the reason for calling it is not related to any musical aspects but the aerial view the island offers. When we see the aerial view of the island, it looks like a guitar. What an amazing creativity by nature!  Take the ship of Andaman and Nicobar operator to Long islands. This is a 4-5 hour of travel from Port Blair. Guitar Island is located northeast coast of the long island, from where 45 minutes of the boat ride is enough. Once you step your feet on the shores of the islands, from then the island is all yours. This description arose an interest in me to visit Guitar Island. With a hammock, favorite music, books, food one can make up a good holiday. Honeymoons must actually be conducted in these types of places where serenity and privacy meet. Couples can spend their romantic moments enjoying the nature in the shores of these islands. A candlelight dinner can be arranged here. If you are interested, the Best Andaman Honeymoon Packages can include guitar islands to the itinerary. The tour planners would make necessary arrangements for us to visit the desired location we are looking for. The Lalaji Bay beach is the best attraction here where beachcombing, nature photography, swimming can be done. There are lots of sea creatures, shells, hermit crabs and sand crabs can be watched. I found the island really interesting and just like guitar islands, the one I mentioned is also riveting, the Interview Island.

INTERVIEW ISLAND- Wild and Fantasy meets

Before visiting itself, the name of this island invokes a curiosity in the minds of people. There is not much investigation required to know its etymology. Simply, the island is owned by Interview group, thus the island has got its name. Lying in the Northern part of middle Andaman’s, the interview islands are closer to Mayabunder. The highest part of this island is a wooded plateau. The reason why most of the tourists omit this place while they are on their tour is that the long travel one needs to undergo. It will take almost 7 hours to reach Mayabunder and from there 3 hours to reach the island. Also, a night stay is not allowed on the island and is a one-day package. But I am planning my tour as to reach Mayabunder first a day before and by staying there overnight, catching the boat ride on the next day. The boat ride is on a dongi, a wooden traditional boat and the cruise will be along thick mangroves. What we want more for a thrill? On reaching there the first look seems wild mostly because the north-west part has proof of wreckage by monsoon storms.

Interview Island is lying 125 kilometers away from Port Blair and is a prominent wildlife sanctuary. It is the largest island sanctuary of Andaman and Nicobar islands, housing rare varieties of flora and fauna. A wildlife visit is actually rare in Andaman tours but due to lesser accessibility to this island, most of them won't pick the package. In your honeymoons, visiting some mystery hidden places is an adventure and if rendered correctly, visit to interview wildlife sanctuary would be the best of Andaman Honeymoon package as here thrill is to the utmost, which can be enjoyed with our beloved. The reason why I added thrill is that the islands have numerous freshwater resources. To the western side of the interview island, there is a cave below a hill in which a freshwater pool is located. This water will come out of the cave and legend says that this pool has no bottom. It is the nesting place of while bellied swifts. From this cave, a thick stream of freshwater erupts.

The island was an abandoned area till the 1970s even to some extent now also. A wildlife sanctuary was opened in 1970s housing elephants. Here one can find more than 80-90 elephants as per records. When I read more about this, there was an interesting story behind it. These elephants were brought from Calcutta those were trained to carry timber. The British timber company has made brought them here but unfortunately, the work was canceled and these elephants made their home in these islands. Sometimes, they used to swim across the sea. The Government has taken steps to protect the elephants as well as animals inside the sanctuary. These feral elephants are an important attraction here. Actually, the sanctuary was built to protect these animals. Apart from elephants, there are other creatures also, like Andaman wild pig, common palm civet, spotted deer etc. Many varieties of birds are found nesting in the trees of the Interview islands. The island is opened throughout the year and the climate is close to tropical in nature. The summers are too hot and monsoons are long. There is no winter in the island. One must definitely, enjoy the evenings here as sunset seems so beautiful.

Although the guitar and interview islands are not so popular among Andaman trips, these places are really adorable I think. I am eager to watch its beauty in close and hope my honeymoon turns out to be best.
